SOUTH BRUNSWICK – The Middlesex County Central Labor Council (CLC) today announced its endorsement of Seema Singh, the Democratic candidate for state Senate in the 14th Legislative District.
The council represents affiliated unions throughout Middlesex County. Its membership includes17,000 working members in public and private sector unions.
“The Middlesex County Central Labor Council voted to endorse Seema Singh for her work on behalf of working people throughout the state of New Jersey,” said Joseph Jennings, President of the Middlesex County CLC.
Part of the Middlesex County CLC’s decision to endorse Singh stems from her time as New Jersey’s Ratepayer Advocate, where she successfully challenged the PSEG/Exelon merger, which would have allowed a giant utility company to take over PSEG and would have undoubtedly ended in higher utility rates for consumers. The Council also said it was impressed with her track record of stepping forward to protect ratepayers and working families.
“Receiving the endorsement of the Middlesex County Central Labor Council means a lot, having worked for years to help working families throughout the state,” said Singh (D-South Brunswick). “Labor unions have shown that working towards mutual goals such as creating jobs that pay a fair wage and creating sound environmental policies to create new jobs, as well as new businesses can work and I look forward to fighting for these issues in the State Senate.”
The 14th Legislative District includes the Middlesex County municipalities of Cranbury, Jamesboro, Monroe, Plainsboro, and South Brunswick, and the Mercer County townships of Hamilton and West Windsor.
